A step-by-step guide to successful contract drafting.

1. Check: Am I eligible to apply?

Eligible to apply are:

  • Individuals, partnerships, companies working professionally in the creative industries in Hamburg.
  • formal associations of actors who work professionally predominantly in the creative industries in Hamburg
  • public and private educational institutions that provide training in the creative industries in Hamburg
  • in individual cases, funding can also be provided to interim users from Hamburg whose field of activity borders on the creative industries and whose operating models or uses can be expected to have a comparable effect.

2. Upload concept

If you are interested in a creative interim use, first upload your concept here.

3. Find a free space

Then take a look at our property database, activate the "Free_space" filter and leave your email address with the offers that interest you. We will then forward your concept and establish contact if there is mutual interest. An important note: We cannot guarantee that your idea will be successfully placed - but meaningful pictures and a clear description increase your chances of a successful creative interim use. Have you discovered a vacancy in Hamburg? Then you are cordially invited to become active yourself and contact the landlords. Your involvement can speed up the funding process considerably.

4. Draw up an interim use contract

Draw up a contract with the landlord or landlady on your own - our team will be happy to help you. You can use the sample contract in the download area at the bottom of the page as a basis. Please note: The interim use contract will only become effective after a binding funding commitment from Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft.

5. Apply for funding and submit evidence

In the next step, you apply for the subsidy for all costs that exceed your share of 1.50 euros per square metre, such as operating and ancillary costs. Rent subsidy. In the application form, you will be asked to submit three documents. Have them ready:

  • Proof of eligibility to apply (e.g. extract from the commercial register, trade licence, tax assessment, extract from the register of associations or foundations)
  • Agreed and signed interim use contract between the landlord or landlady and you. You can find a sample in the download area at the bottom of the page.
  • Signed declaration on the "Fund for Creative Interim Uses" funding application. You can find this in the download area at the bottom of the page.

Here, associations of creative workers and landlords can apply for grants for communication, design and artistic measures to draw attention to the interim use (e.g. advertising and decoration of shop windows). You will be asked to submit these documents in the application form:

  • Signed declaration for the funding application "Fund for Creative Interim Uses". You can find this in the download area at the bottom of the page.
  • 1-3 Offers for communication measures

6. Application for funding is approved or rejected

The last step is to find out whether your application has been approved. If all the documents submitted meet the funding requirements, there is nothing standing in the way of a creative business interim use. We will then conclude a funding contract that contains the rules and details of the funding.

7. Start of the interim use

Let's go! You can benefit from all the advantages of interim use until the end of 2023. Until then, we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
