Moments of emergence of creative places
How do creative places come about? What spatial requirements do new utilisation concepts need? And what challenges does the transformation of existing buildings for the creative industries entail?
As part of the Hamburg Architecture Summer, we invite you to a special impulse tour: Together we will explore creative properties of the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft by bike - from historic warehouse buildings to inner-city retail spaces and special properties on the way into the unknown.
The route
Our route leads from the Speicherstadt through the city centre to St. Pauli and on to Altona Nord. On the way we will visit
the converted historic creative warehouse M28 with the SPACE innovation space for the media and digital industries - as examples of successful transformation
the FABRIC - Future Fashion Lab, which shows how a retail space can be much more than traditional retail with sustainable fashion in the heart of the city centre
a listed school in the centre of St. Pauli, which is on its way to becoming an established creative property
the former parcel post centre - a special property between existing, potential and future issues around Diebsteich
The tour makes it possible to experience the diversity of creative utilisation concepts, spatial requirements, structural framework conditions and economic realities. It is about space as a field of opportunity, as a stage for new forms of work, cultural production and sustainable urban development.
Moving through the city itself becomes part of the concept: perspectives change, scales shift, connections become visible. The impulse tour combines the direct experience of space with an invitation to rethink the city.
The starting point is the Speicher M28property (Am Sandtorkai 27/28, 20457 Hamburg), which has already been in successful use for eight years. From there, we will embark on a varied cycle tour through the property development of Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft - past established creative locations and exciting new projects.
Along the way, you can look forward to a series of brief insights into our work, development processes and visions for the future.
