Jeannine Koch is to become the new managing director of the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft
The current managing director of medianet berlinbrandenburg e.V. will succeed Egbert Rühl, who is retiring, on 1 March 2027.

The Supervisory Board of the ‘ Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft ’ has unanimously resolved to appoint Jeannine Koch as Managing Director of ‘ Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft ’. In doing so, the Supervisory Board followed the recommendation of a selection committee. Jeannine Koch will succeed Egbert Rühl on 1 March 2027; Mr Rühl, who has successfully led Kreativ Gesellschaft since its foundation in 2010, is retiring. The 45-year-old, who was born in Berlin, is currently managing director of medianet berlinbrandenburg e.V. and a shareholder in MediaTech Hub Potsdam. Prior to this, the qualified media consultant headed up re:publica.

She has many years’ experience in the digital, media and creative industries, possesses extensive leadership skills and has an excellent network within the creative sector. She is familiar with working at the interface between business, administration, politics and culture, and is therefore ideally placed to further develop Hamburg as a hub for the creative industries. Egbert Rühl has led Kreativ Gesellschaft since its foundation over 15 years ago with great dedication and a keen understanding of the sector’s needs and developments. It is thanks to him that it is now the largest municipal creative industries support organisation in Germany. I would like to thank Egbert Rühl very much for this pioneering work and his many years of commitment to the creative industries in Hamburg.”

Jeannine Koch, born in Berlin in 1981, studied English, American Studies and Modern German Philology in Berlin. This was followed by two semesters abroad studying International Communications in Sydney and a diploma in media consultancy with a specialisation in the subject area in Berlin. After graduating, Jeannine Koch worked, amongst other roles, as Head of Marketing and Communications for Berlin’s first International Garden Exhibition. She then went on to lead the digital and social conference re:publica. Since 2021, Koch has served as Chair of the Board and Managing Director of medianet berlinbrandenburg e.V. In this role, she is also a shareholder in the MediaTech Hub Potsdam and is actively involved in various committees and advisory boards.
