Hamburg fashion at Fashion Week: FABRIC – Future Fashion Lab and PLATTE.Berlin launch their first joint pop-up for Berlin Fashion Week

Four days, six Hamburg-based labels, one theme: “Built on Collaboration, Made in Hamburg.” From 2 to 5 July 2026, FABRIC – Future Fashion Lab Hamburg will present a collective selection of its member labels at PLATTE Berlin for the first time – marking the first public appearance of the partnership between the two organisations, which was formed in early 2026.

Berlin/Hamburg, 3 July 2026 – Three months after the public announcement of their strategic partnership, PLATTE.Berlin e.V. and FABRIC Hamburg are marking the first visible milestone of their collaboration: During Berlin Fashion Week, six Hamburg-based member labels of FABRIC are showcasing their latest work in the retail area of PLATTE Berlin. The pop-up was launched on the evening of 2 July with a joint opening night. The teams from both projects, as well as the exhibiting designers, were in attendance.

Two venues, one evolving ecosystem

What began in March 2026 as a structural agreement is now open to the public. FABRIC Hamburg – the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft’s 700 m² ‘engine room’ in Hamburg city centre, where over 30 independent designers and labels are currently working on production, knowledge, innovation and networking – meets the ‘Arena’ PLATTE Berlin, the curated retail and community platform in Berlin-Mitte. The result is an event that does not merely proclaim the spirit of collaboration, but embodies it: Hamburg-based production is showcased at one of Berlin’s central fashion hubs, and the principle of shared infrastructure is put into practice in full view of the public.

Built on Collaboration, Made in Hamburg: the pop-up’s motto also encapsulates FABRIC’s self-image. The most exciting answers to fashion’s questions about the future do not arise there in the isolation of individual studios, but through connection: via shared workshops, collaborative production, open exchange of knowledge and the belief that competition is less productive than collaboration. The six labels making their way to Berlin demonstrate this principle through specific pieces – handmade from natural materials and production surplus, in small batches or made to order.

Six styles from Hamburg

The participating labels were selected via an internal open call amongst the FABRIC Member Labels. Together, they represent a broad spectrum of what is currently emerging from the Hamburg fashion scene: from minimalist design with subtle echoes of Arabic aesthetics (ARJOS ANTON) to handmade pieces straddling workwear and high fashion (AVA.) and versatile silhouettes produced locally on a made-to-order basis (CHASHO) to raw, untreated materials (CRÛ ORIGINS), narrative craftsmanship featuring patchwork made from deadstock materials (FREIKOERPER) and conceptual leatherwork straddling the line between avant-garde and introspective art (LAURA CHLASS). All six designers will be on site throughout the four days and will be available for discussions with the press, buyers and the public.

The start of a structured roadmap

The pop-up is the first in a series of planned joint initiatives between the two organisations. Plans include two pop-ups per year at each location, the annual NEXT GEN Pop-up Award during Berlin Fashion Week, open consultation sessions for designers from both cities, and the joint ‘Fashion Lift’ incubator programme for four to six selected labels. The aim: a permeable infrastructure between Berlin and Hamburg that interlinks production, further training, visibility and market access – with low barriers to entry, regardless of social background or start-up capital. With this combination of shared infrastructure, open access and long-term networking, FABRIC and PLATTE are setting new standards for how innovative business support in the creative industries can look.
