Mind the Progress 2020 - First speakers announced
Digital media determine our lives. Technological progress makes it possible for anyone with access to Internet-enabled devices not only to publish independently of time and place, but also to be listened to by a wide audience. This is accompanied by both opportunities - and dangers: In times of all-encompassing digitalisation, the discovery of false information presents a growing challenge. Reality and fiction can hardly be separated. Who can we trust? What is made up, what is forged? How can we unmask manipulation, stay politically responsible and not become paranoid? And: Which role and responsibility does the creative industry have in this regard? These and similar questions will be addressed on June 12 and 13, in the third edition of the Mind the Progress congress. Focus theme this year: Manipulation.
Transdisciplinary perspectives
Together with sociologist Prof. Dr. Harald Welzer, known for his various publications, fact-checker Karolin Schwarz, political advisor and social media expert Martin Fuchs, digital strategist and expert in behavioural economics Wilhelm Schmid, and cultural scientist Michael Seemann, who has been working on the social effects of digital transformation for more than 10 years, we will once again be bringing forward thinkers from a wide range of disciplines and sectors to the stages in Hamburg's Oberhafenquartier in 2020.
