Thinking Bigger than Human-Centered Design
Human-centered design has been both a triumph and a tragedy. A triumph because we have made so much of the world easier to engage with for so many people. A tragedy because doing so has come at the cost of the well-being of other species, our planet, and sometimes ourselves and other people. But how do we rethink the way we design? How do we step outside the perspective of centering a user or customer, and design for more-than-humans?
