The German Federal Film Board (FFA) is Germany's national film funding organisation. It supports cinema films in all phases of their creation and exploitation: from script development to production and distribution. Further funds are used to promote cinemas, to preserve German film heritage, to raise awareness of German film abroad and to promote film education. As a central service provider for the German film industry, the FFA regularly collects, analyses and publishes the most important market data for the film, cinema and video industry in Germany.
The budget for FFA funding under the Film Funding Act is financed by the so-called film levy, which is collected from cinemas, the video industry and television, among others.
Information on the individual funding areas and application deadlines can be found on the website.
