Programmbeschreibung

The German Translators' Fund offers various forms of individual support for translators whose target language is German, including work grants, travel and residence grants. The project fund also awards money to projects that focus on the translation of literature and the work of translators, as well as mediation programmes with a focus on literary translation (e.g. in the field of cultural education).

Förderkriterien

Scholarships are awarded three times a year on 15 January, 15 May and 15 September via an application procedure. Translators of foreign-language works into German are eligible for funding, provided that the translation of these works requires a sophisticated linguistic and literary composition in German. The expert jury usually decides on the awarding of the scholarships within eight weeks of the application deadline. The application documents to be submitted for the individual types of scholarship can be found in the respective calls for applications.
