Promotion of musicians

The German Music Council supports long-term projects and temporary funding programmes. Its work focuses on supporting amateur and professional musicians, promoting young musicians and contemporary music as well as providing information, statistics and documents on musical life in Germany.

Among other things, the German Music Council organises several competitions, including Jugend musiziert, the national Jugend jazzt competition, the German Music Competition, the German Choir Competition and the German Orchestra Competition.

Other funding programmes include the Conducting Forum for top young conductors, the German Music Competition Concert Fund, which arranges chamber music concerts throughout Germany for the prizewinners and scholarship holders of the German Music Competition, and the PopCamp, which awards five intensive coaching sessions to newcomer artists every year.
