FLINTA* Meetup for the self-employed and start-up founders*

To this day, the situation remains that, within work structures, FLINTA* (women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people) generally benefit less from contacts and networks – which can have an impact on their visibility, workload and pay. The FLINTA* Meetup addresses this issue by connecting solo self-employed individuals and founders active in Hamburg’s creative industries. The aim is to bring together FLINTA* individuals from various fields – ranging from design and writing to film, games and the visual arts – to achieve greater visibility and a better flow of work through networking and mutual support.

Each event evening offers space for up to 40 participants. The evening begins with a relaxed get-together over drinks and guided discussion prompts. A short keynote talk on relevant topics such as social media, client acquisition or SEO provides fresh and easily actionable ideas for participants’ own self-employment or start-up ventures. Over dinner, participants can exchange ideas, share what they’ve learnt and forge long-term contacts for future collaboration.

The event – from the moderation to the catering – is organised by a FLINTA* team to create an open and supportive atmosphere. The evening is intended to be a safe space, which is why we’d be delighted, for example, if participants introduced themselves using their pronouns straight away.
